Mrs Mulea,
Pre-K Teacher
Our class really enjoyed Peter’s book, “Clean Clara.” They cannot stop talking about her. They now compare things she was doing in the book to things they also do at home. The class liked learning how a book is made and all the steps it takes to complete a book.

Peter shared his book with the children and engaged us in a dialogue about the process of story writing. He expanded on the ideas that we’ve introduced in class including fiction versus nonfiction, character building, setting and plot development elements, problem solving and story structure. The children were given the opportunity to point out all of these elements in Clean Clara. We’re looking forward to incorporating the information we learned into our future stories. Many thanks to Peter Oltchick for sharing his time and talents! It was a very inspiring day for all us!
Kindergarten Teacher
Clean Clara is an engaging story in which a little girl learns to problem solve and compromise. The kindergarten children loved hearing the story and were drawn in by the bright illustrations. Peter’s visit to our classroom was a fun way for the children to learn about the process of writing a picture book.

We enjoyed an animated read aloud with a Q & A at the end of the story. The Q & A was a great extension allowing the children to make true connections that writers write stories to be shared with others, their audience. The children also enjoyed creating their own versions of their “messy” and “clean” rooms. A wonderful experience for my kindergarten class! Many thanks Peter!
